The idea of “Image Tranquille” was born when Jan Taminiau found again refuge in his nostalgic memories of his grandmothers attic. The time he stumbles on old books and antique statues made of marble.
Intriged by this, Jan became attracted and obsessed by the spontaneous and unique patterns of each individual marble pieces and their different visual aspects.
Jan marbled his choses fabrics and accessories, creating individual designs and patterns. This is the result of color floating on plain water, and then carefully transferred to textile. This process is repeated with concentric rings of floating colors and this catches the movement in the fabric, thereby creating the “image Tranquille”.
